Paul Kuimet
Paul Kuimet (b. 1984) works with photographic installations and 16mm films, the subject matter of which ranges from landscapes and architecture to objects and works of art. His works often look at Modernist objects by way of highlighting their aesthetic, political and historical connotations that were perhaps hidden from the naked eye.
Kuimet’s photographic works are often displayed as lightboxes in darkened spaces, which heightens the viewers’ relationships to both the physical and the pictorial space. His 16mm films that are constructed as continuous loops are displayed in relation to the existing exhibition space further emphasising their sculptural qualities instead of a narrative drive.
