Lecture & screening, EN

The act of bearing witness is central to the work of Damir Avdagic, whose performative film works are testaments to the microhistories of migration, generational relationships, and diasporic experience set against the historical backdrop of conflict in the former Yugoslavia. At the Meet the Residents event Damir Avdagic will introduce his artistic practice and methods by presenting samples of works, research and recently filmed footage. The event will conclude with a screening of the work Prevodenje (Translation) from 2015, (16 mins).

> Auditorium

21:00 - 00:00, Henry Andersen (b. 1992, AU/BE) & Bryana Fritz (b. 1989, US/FR) - Slow Reading Club
Performative reading, EN

Slow Reading Club is a semi-fictional reading group initiated in 2016 by Bryana Fritz and Henry Andersen. They deal in constructed situations for collective and individual reading. Central to their collective practice is a question about how meaning passes between bodies in the act of reading. If reading is an action that is "performed", might it also be choreographed? And might such choreographies provide an escape from dominant patterns of reading-as-communication? SRC seeks to occupy and eroticise the space of transmission between text and reader, reader and reader, text and text.
