Guided tour
Look Who's Talking
18 09 2025 18:00 19:00

Artist Kicsy Abreu Stable invites us to join an intimate exploration of her work 1994 (IV) as part of the Magical Realism exhibition, uncovering the worlds and stories that lie beneath it.

Through her study of abandoned spaces, she combines architectural and domestic fragments with an original narrative that forms a counter-archive of the Balsero crisis in Cuba. Drawing on mythologies, Abreu Stable uses fiction to approach suppressed histories, creating space for interpretation where direct testimonies are unavailable.

This guided tour is followed by a talk by Malcom Ferdinand, in conversation with Sorana Munsya.

Guided tour in French.

Kicsy Abreu Stable (b. 1992, Cuba) is a multidisciplinary artist and architect based in Brussels. Her practice explores spatial storytelling and untold, unofficial and forgotten narratives through the intersection of sculpture, architecture and drawing. Abreu Stable’s work explores the intricate relationship between humans, the areas they inhabit, and the environments that surround them. Through the interplay of presence and absence, visibility and concealment, she reinterprets traditional craftsmanship while challenging the physical and cultural boundaries of materials.

Abreu Stable earned a master’s degree in architecture at the Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana ‘José Antonio Echeverría’ in 2015 and in sculpture and spatial art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels in 2021. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in Release, MINO Art Space, Antwerp (2023); LUCIE(A), Centre Tour à Plomb, Brussels (2021); and Laisser passer, Maison de l’Architecture de l’Isère, Grenoble (2017).
