Book Launch: Jef Geys - Catalogue Raisonnable (FR/NL/EN)
To mark the launch of the first comprehensive publication on Jef Geys’ work, following the 2024 exhibition at WIELS, co-curator and editor Charlotte Friling will present the content and structure of the volume. She will then moderate a conversation with research assistants Kaat Obbels and Oriana Lemmens, and graphic designers Joris Kritis and Adriaan Van Leuven.
Together, they will reflect on the process of creating the book, discussing how it relates to Geys’ publishing practices and principles, while also sharing a few behind-the-scenes stories. The event will be introduced by Dirk Snauwaert, co-curator of the exhibition and artistic director of WIELS, and will conclude with a Q&A session.
Originating from a survey publication proposal found in Jef Geys’ archive, Catalogue Raisonnable is a meticulously assembled monograph—published by WIELS and MER. Books/Borgerhoff & Lamberigts—that brings together extensive archival research, translations of original texts, previously unpublished works and documents, and more than a thousand illustrations.
The publication will be available for purchase at the WIELS Bookshop during the launch.
