In this work, Angel Vergara spent hours filming outside a Volkswagen factory, capturing workers as they left, not through direct shots but via reflections in shop windows and other surfaces. This method produced layered, refracted visuals that offer a more intricate viewing experience and intentionally recall La sortie des usines Lumière (1895). Unlike Lumière’s static, single-angle framing, Vergara uses dynamic camerawork and rapid editing — a stylistic hallmark of the series this film belongs to. The brisk, fragmented montage reveals a stream of workers heading home, interwoven with scenes of traffic, construction sites, and urban life, forming a complex portrait of labour and transition.
