Piero Figueroa Bravo
Piero Figueroa Bravo (b.1999, Huaraz, Peru) is a visual artist based in Lima, Peru. His work revolves around alternative epistemologies and adopts a humorously yet revisionist stance toward the hierarchical role of scientific knowledge production in contemporary society. Through the use of pseudoscientific or straight up fictional narratives to fill the epistemic gaps of science, he seeks to merge academic discourse and media culture subjectivity, creating psycho-infused epistemic structures and scenarios. His multidisciplinary research-based practice spans painting, installation and more recently cartooning, aiming to consistently conceive of visual production as a tool for world-building and speculative cognition.
