Conversation Tetshim Frank Mukunday et Nelson Makengo

Starting from their respective practices of drawing (Tetshim) and video (Frank), their duo gave birth to the studio ‘Crayon de cuivre’ (copper pencil) in Lubumbashi. After two experimental essays ("Cailloux" et "Kukinga"), "Machini" is their first short animation film produced with professional means. Starting from an observation of the city of Lubumbashi, MACHINI addresses the place of the mine in the city, pollution, and destruction of man by man. They work with stones, recycling material and chalk drawnings. This film is in progress. They are currently in residence at Atelier Graphoui in Brussels.

We invite the audience to meet the two artists, together with the filmmaker Nelson Makengo from Kinshasa, currently in residence at WIELS. This conversation will be moderated by Rosa Spaliviero, producer and independent filmprogrammer.

The residencies at Atelier Graphoui and WIELS are partners of Africalia and its Global Citizenship Education programme.
