Aza Mansongi
Aza Mansongi (°1980, DRC) is a visual artist. She works in several disciplines, including painting, sculpture, installation and video.
Aza Mansongi draws her style from classical and figurative realism while incorporating the experiences of her life as a woman and artist in Central Africa. Despite the context of war and conflict, her works are imbued with hope, positivity and social cohesion. Through luminous and chaotic paintings, she celebrates everyday life in Africa, where tradition and modernity meet, where social pressure and individual challenges overlap. Her work is influenced by her interest in comics from an early age and by an innate sense of humour.
