WIELS presents the first institutional exhibition in Belgium of
 R. H. Quaytman.

The artist combines pictorial, photographic and conceptual strategies to develop complex and precise work that explores the materiality and meaning of images. Quaytman’s practice also mines the specific relationship to a specific place and to the history of art, while examining the functioning of perception and its link with memory and (auto) biography. In Chapter 0, R. H. Quaytman explores the cultural and artistic history of Brussels and, in particular, the relationship to power of some of its artists such as Magritte, Broodthaers and especially Antoine Wiertz.
