Nora Turato: If you were less like you, you would only be ridiculous, but thus as you are, you are highly annoying (Première) (EN)
Fast-paced and transgressive, Turato rips through the frenzied internet culture of today. She feeds on its language, memes and slogans in an attempt to pull back the curtain on our time.
In her practice spanning from performance and installation to graphic design and print, NorTa Turato reflects on the frenzied (internet) pop culture of today. She feeds on its language, memes and slogans and fuses them in a powerful monologue in an attempt to pull back the curtain of our time. Fearless, melodious and sometimes hysterical verses are tossed at an audience trying to keep up with her frantic pace. The work thrives on the fact that what is new or of this time is already dated. As such, her murals are snapshots of the contemporary, and its obsession with the iconic of image culture, trying to stretch the 24-hour newness cycle.
