In 2015, Stefano Faoro, Ghislaine Leung and Dana Munro participated in the WIELS Residency Programme. Each resident was given a studio and the larger residency group met every Wednesday. The residency lasted a year but Faoro, Leung and Munro all continued to live in Brussels between 2016 and 2017 before moving to Paris, Vienna and London. During this time, they met and worked together producing various exhibition projects but from 2020, based in Italy and the UK respectively, and unable to travel, they started a group chat named Comrades, a term the artists had previously used to sign off on calls. This group chat has run continuously for five years. It features discussion of all the artists' exhibitions, artworks, families, birthdays, celebrations, sicknesses, worries, jokes and all the rest. It is, as the residency was, a space where doubts, joys and lives are shared. At the start of 2025, a decade after meeting, Faoro, Leung and Munro decided to come back to Brussels to make an exhibition. Spanning ten years of practice, and practicing together, the exhibition Comrades is neither document, nor retrospective, but an action held. It is a time shared and shared with you.
