" Wide Details" at Studio 1, Flagey, 7.00PM (French version), 9PM (English version)
Premiere of " Wide Details," a documentary about Belgian contemporary artist Francis Alÿs, who has lived in Mexico for fifteen years. In spite of its international fame, Alÿs remains an artist little known in his country of origin. "Wide Details" thus invites us to discover his singular artistic work. Painter, photographer, video artist, urban interventionist, Alÿs has turned wandering into an art form. The film proposes to discover the artist’s work through the city and see how the relationship between Alÿs and Mexico raises the question of traveling and opening up to the others and oneself. Starting in the heart of Mexico City, the film follows the artist in his travels and projects in London, Berlin, Lima and Jerusalem.

BRXLBRAVO
Wiels has assigned a project of mapping the neighborhood in which it is located to the “Transmedia” section of the School of Art Sint-Lukas and to the “Urban Space” workshop of La Cambre. The students will focus on the symbolic function of Wiels, the traces of the industrial activity of the site, the memories of workmen and neighbors, the evolution of the renovation, the daily experience of the neighbors... This research will be presented in March 2007 in the context of the festival Brxlbravo, in collaboration PARTS and Bains Connectives. Through a discovery walk, the work of 15 young artists will be presented.
