About this event
As part of both his exhibition at WIELS and his new video Pungulume, Sammy Baloji is presenting Panorama Star of Congo (1912), the first film about the ‘geological scandal’ in Katanga.
After the screening, he will talk about the relationship between the exploitation of land and labourers and the exploitation of images and discourse with artist Sven Augustijnen and researcher Lotte Arndt. Together they will reflect upon how one can arrive at an archaeology and anthropology of one’s own past and present?
DISSENT! is a series of conversations on cinema and politics.
DISSENT! is an initiative of Courtisane, Auguste Orts and Argos, in the framework of the research project 'Figures of Dissent' (KASK/Hogent), with support of the Flemish authorities
